About the Role

Project Blue Financial is seeking a motivated, entrepreneurial, and relationship-driven Independent Sales Consultant to help expand its customer base and develop new business opportunities.

In this role, you will connect with business owners, executives, HR professionals, and other decision-makers to introduce Project Blue Financial's services and identify solutions that align with their business needs.

You will help prospective clients explore opportunities related to employee benefits, business funding, and tax credits, rebates, and incentives. By understanding each prospect's challenges and goals, you will help connect businesses with appropriate resources and guide qualified opportunities through the sales process.

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity suited to self-starters who enjoy networking, consultative selling, and building their own pipeline of potential clients.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can build trust, identify opportunities, and develop long-term professional relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development and Lead Generation

  • Identify and develop relationships with prospective business clients.

  • Generate leads through networking, referrals, professional relationships, outbound prospecting, and other business development activities.

  • Target small and midsize businesses that may benefit from improved employee benefits, potential tax savings, or business funding solutions.

  • Connect with business owners, C-suite executives, HR leaders, finance professionals, and other decision-makers.

  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects.

  • Identify referral sources and strategic partnership opportunities that can generate additional business.

Consultative Sales

  • Conduct introductory meetings and discovery conversations to understand each prospect's business needs.

  • Introduce Project Blue Financial's services and explain how they may address specific business challenges.

  • Help prospective clients explore available employee benefit strategies, tax credit and incentive opportunities, and business funding options.

  • Ask thoughtful questions to identify potential areas for further evaluation.

  • Coordinate with appropriate Project Blue Financial representatives to address technical questions and determine next steps.

  • Guide prospects through the sales process, from initial contact through qualification, proposal, and agreement.

  • Communicate professionally and set realistic expectations regarding eligibility, potential savings, funding approval, and service outcomes.

Relationship Management

  • Build trust with prospective and existing clients through consistent, professional communication.

  • Maintain relationships with referral partners, business advisors, accountants, insurance professionals, and other relevant contacts.

  • Follow up with prospects to answer questions and move opportunities forward.

  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional services when appropriate.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to support a smooth client transition following a successful sale.

Sales Pipeline Management

  • Track leads, conversations, follow-ups, and opportunities using designated systems.

  • Maintain organized records of sales activities and prospect information.

  • Prioritize opportunities based on client needs, potential fit, and readiness to move forward.

  • Monitor sales progress against mutually established objectives.

  • Provide feedback on market trends, customer concerns, and business development opportunities.

Professional Development and Market Awareness

  • Learn Project Blue Financial's services, sales process, and client qualification criteria.

  • Stay informed about relevant business challenges involving employee benefits, operational costs, tax incentives, and business funding.

  • Develop effective messaging that communicates the value of the company's services without making unsupported guarantees.

  • Follow applicable company policies and legal requirements when discussing financial services, employee benefits, tax-related programs, and funding options.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in sales, business development, account management, consulting, or a related customer-facing role.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Confidence initiating conversations and developing new business relationships.

  • Strong networking, prospecting, and follow-up skills.

  • Ability to identify customer needs and communicate potential solutions.

  • Self-motivation and the ability to organize business development activities independently.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional approach to client relationships.

  • Willingness to learn Project Blue Financial's service offerings and client qualification process.

  • Commitment to ethical sales practices and accurate communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success generating leads, developing a sales pipeline, and closing business.

  • Experience working in a commission-based sales environment.

  • Familiarity with small business operations and the challenges associated with employee benefits and operating expenses.

Who Would Thrive in This Role?

  • Are comfortable generating their own leads and pursuing new business opportunities.

  • Want flexibility in how they organize their independent sales activities.

Professionals with backgrounds in insurance, employee benefits, payroll, HR consulting, financial services, and B2B sales may bring particularly relevant experience.
